Jean-Baptiste Bacquart studied Art History and Archaeology at The Sorbonne and The Ecole du Louvre in Paris.
Former Head of the Tribal Art Department at Sotheby's London (1992-1997), he now works as a consultant, advising museums and private collectors across the world on the acquisition and conservation of tribal works of Art.
His recent book, "The Tribal Arts
of Africa", has received public acclaim. He is now preparing another book "Understanding
Tribal Art".
He regularly exhibits in Paris, ususally in March and September (during the
Parcours des mondes). He is also regularly interviewed by television and national
radio stations on matters concerning collecting and tribal Arts.
The gallery (visits by apointment only) is located in Gloucester Place, 10 minutes walk from Oxford Street, the commercial centre of London, in an historical building where general Benedict Arnold, the American Patriot, lived from 1796 and died in 1801
The nearest underground station is Baker Street, but Bond street and Marble Arch are also near by.
